When the Goats Get Out

I am NOT a good person when the goats get out. In fact, I am probably the most toxic person you have ever met when the goats are out. I am screeching, I am cussing, I am verbally abusing them the entire time. Probably a lot of livestock folks can relate to that. You meet me because my goats were in your yard? Disregard that entire interaction please. I dont know where Toxic Angry Dani comes from, but I know what triggers it, and the only fix is to GET THE DAMN GOATS BACK IN THE FENCE.
So.... the goats got out last night.
But afterward, while I was doomed to work on reinforcing my fencing and having to delay my evening chores by hoooouuuurrrrrs (the goats didnt get milked until 11pm ), I got to see the most beautiful sunset. I would've missed it if the goats had been Good Girls, because my milking schedule always coincides with sunrises and sunsets.
Then, as I was, you know, continuing to do more fence after the sun melded away into the horizon and was replaced by a looming dark twilight, I saw my first firefly of the year. I am ALWAYS inside and done with chores by darktime. I may not be able to attend a birthday party without being 4 hours late, but with chores, I'm ~punctual~. So, I realized that this entire year, I havent seen a single firefly.
I stood in the field and watched as hundreds of fireflies lit up the landscape. It was beautiful. There were so many. I threw my arms up in the air and spun around like a little kid.
Then, I finally conceded to my chores. While milking, a giant orange underwing moth flew into the garage and landed right in front of me. I got to admire it. My hands were covered in iodine so I didnt touch it or take photos, but it was beautiful.
I guess the moral of the story is that its ok to be mad if the day throws you curveballs and completely changes the trajectory of your day. But, BUT. Roll with the punches and keep at it. You might meet new people that you never wouldve before that could instantly mean the world to you. Take a wrong turn and miss the wedding but see a hidden waterfall. Maybe you lose your job, but theres a new opportunity waiting that is everything you ever wanted. Or maybe you get to watch a sunset, dance in a field of fireflies, and stare in deep appreciation at a cool moth.
