Apple B Acres

Bee the big cheese on your block!

Who is ABA?

we've got goats, and lots of them

  • We own +-50 goats, primarily Nigerian Dwarf but some mini Lamancha and mini Nubian mutts sprinkled in.

  • We milk our goats for personal consumption and to handcraft cheese, soap, and other dairy-based products that are available for purchase.

  • We take exceptional pride in the quality, conformation, temperament, biosecurity, and production of our goats.

  • We put a huge emphasis on education and research to best provide for our animals, and help other goat owners find the resources they need to do the same.

  • We offer our own resources ranging from: Google Sheets templates for many different farm uses, PDF format care sheets for goats, videos on how-to DIY in many different farm situations.

  • We share our own unique farm experiences and practices in hopes of fostering a community full of inquisitive, kind, communicative, and lovely lifeforms that support and learn from each other.

My main personal motto, the thing I repeat in a mantra to myself while doing chores in -30F blizzards, the phrase that the breeze whispers on perfectly sunny days, the core of my business and general philosophy.... is quite simply:

It is all for the love of goat.

What I do here, why Apple B Acres exists, is very simply to love and appreciate goats. Seeing their unique and quirky personalities really shine, and knowing with certainty that they are living good lives. It's probably not the best business claim, to say that I'm not actually here because I'm obsessed with cheese (but that's true, you know it's true), or I want to be recognized in big historic show rings (who doesn't though?), or I think curating a soap recipe for my own sensitive skin is going to make me rich (....pls?). But it's what's true. I want to spend all day hanging out with my goats and ensuring they are happy, healthy, safe, warm, and dry. I want to do it so badly, that I gratefully carry 80lb square hay bales across an entire field in knee-deep snow during a cold-blasting blizzard, or that I would experience the grief of watching one of my very closest friends pass on from this world - over, and over, and over again. I would take a day spent blending soap, observing my cheeses, doing chores, sleeping every 72 hours during kidding season, scanning for new research on obscure ruminant diseases, etc over any other task in the entire concept of the universe; and I believe more people understand that sentiment than not. Let's be better owners, better breeders, better environmentalists, and better people together. For the goats.

For the Love of Goats
